This video reflects on our human desire to mimic and recreate nature. By mimicking the natural things around us we attempt to understand them, appreciate them, and preserve them. However, often by doing so we also threaten to harm or destroy them. Giro is a surreal, meditative exploration of this theme. Using a set I created entirely out of painted paper and papier-mâché, the video takes the viewer on a journey through the details of a ground cover landscape from the shoreline to the forest, ending up in a tiny recycling center/thrift shop that is specific to the west coast island community it serves.
